Picnic Party in the Park FUNdraiser

When: Sunday August 8, 2010 from 2:00 pm to 7:30 pm
 
Cost: $15.00 per person registration fee, includes food, music, games & more. Register on-line at our website.
 
Where: Century Park Boat Dock Pavilion, Vernon Hills Park District. Lakeview Parkway, just north of Route 60 (Townline Rd.) Vernon Hills.
 
What: Food, Fun, Music by DJ Yeo, Raffles, and Games.
BBQ, Pop, Salads, Desserts, Hot Dog Cart
Baggo, Hillbilly Golf, Fishing if you want (requires valid fishing license if over 16)
 
Come join us for a fun filled day of food, music and camaraderie, play games, enjoy the view, sit a spell, what ever makes you happy. We would love to have you join us for this year's FUNdraiser.

The second annual Corey Diamond Memorial FUNdraiser was held again at Arlington Lanes, and was another success.  Over 80 raffle items were raffled off as well as some silent auctions for sporting events and jewelry. Thank you to all the businesses and individuals that donated raffle items or made donations to the fund. Thank you to the FUNdraiser committee for all their efforts in planning the event and of course to all those friends that came out and enjoyed a wonderful dinner, bowling and good friends. We can't thank you enough for your support!

The Corey Diamond Memorial Fund officially received recognition by the IRS as an authorized 501(c)3 public charitable organization. Paperwork was submitted this past July and approval paperwork was received today. In accordance with the law, all donations are fully tax deductible! The first annual fundraising event was a tremendous success. 250+ people attended the event. Over 80 different raffle items were raffled away. The response from those attending was wonderfully positive and plans are already under way for next year's event. We want to thank all those that either made donations and or attended the event for all your support and feedback! Today, Ralph Lewis was sentenced to 45 years in prison. Because he was found guilty of First Degree murder, he is not eligible for parole and must serve the whole term minus time already served. It was an emotional day but justice has been served.

The trial of Ralph O. Lewis, the driver of the stolen U-Haul truck that crashed into the car Corey was traveling in as a passenger two years and two days prior concluded and went to the jury today after a week of testimony. Ralph Lewis is charged with First Degree Murder of Corey Diamond, Aggravated Battery of Elliott Cellini Corey's friend who was driving the car, Unlawful Restraint, and Aggravated Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle.

After only three hours of deliberation, the Jury returned their verdict and found Ralph Lewis, guilty of First Degree Murder, unlawful restraint, aggravated battery and aggravated possession of a stolen motor vehicle. The First Degree murder charge carries a minimum of 20 years and a maximum of 60 years without parole. Sentencing is set for September 10th.
